‘Henything’

Yo, Yo, Yo. Welcome back! Had a pretty crazy week and have been very busy. I never got down time to write up what is going on. I was going to discuss my trip to Santa Barbara and also the OC Night Market, but so much other things were happening so I definitely wanted to talk about those things too, but I will break it down into two separate posts. The first thing was, my sister flew in to Cali for vacation from Air Force duties!! The first night she hit me up and asked if I knew any seafood places to eat in the area. I suggested to her, The Wharf . This is probably the best crawfish spot in OC, so if y’all have not tried it click the name and check it’s yelp page.

While at the Wharf, we had some oyster shots and of course crawfish, but after we finished eating, my cousin Darryl wanted to hang out a little longer to catch up with my sister so we relocated to the bar area. The bartender was so nice to allow me to take photos while she served us and I got some nice shots. I really liked the one where she served me my shot of whiskey.

Again, I highly recommend The Wharf. I used to like other crawfish places, but I feel like Boiling Crab, Hot N Juicy, Kickin Crab, etc… has really dropped in quality, especially since they get business no matter what now, but I consider myself a crawfish expert so I have seen the change in quality. Anyways this was our dinner for Wednesday night.

My cousin, his girlfriend, and my sister drove to Santa Barbara around 8PM. We stayed at a Motel 6 off of State Street. We had a graduation at UCSB the next morning so definitely wanted a place to sleep in the area, especially since we planned to go drinking that night. I already had an idea of the places I wanted to visit thanks to a few foodies in SB so huge shot out to the people below as well as the Yelp SB manager for giving me great recommendations. Their IG’s are below:

After we settled in at the motel, we decided to hit the “Funk Zone” which is basically Santa Barbara’s own Gas Lamp District or DTF where the nightlife is poppin’. It was pretty busy and there were a lot of different pubs and breweries. The first place we went to was Institution Ale. They had a really good wheat ale beer that was mango infused, I sadly don’t remember the name of the beer I drank, but it was on their menu and was the only one with mango in it.

After Institution Ale, we hit up O’Malleys which was right across the street. This place was a bar and really played a vast amount of music, ranging from the 80’s hip hop to current day music. You never would expect what song would come next. It was strange, but at least the music choices were good! We stayed here and took a few shots of Hennessy, my sister opted for Patron which in my personal opinion is gross. I also really dislike Tito’s. I am more of a Glen or Jamie type of person, so if you ever drink with me, order any of those two for me please! (´・` )♡ After the bar, we went back to the motel to catch some sleep, but my cousin Darryl and I ended up staying up till about 5 am before getting maybe 1-2 hours of sleep. This was truly regretful. once it hit 7 a.m. we all got ready and went to UCSB to see my other cousin graduate! Congrats again Jessie!!!! o(^▽^)o

Graduation day, and our poor decision making had us all tired. Graduation was at 9 a.m. we rushed to Starbucks to get some coffee and then drove a few miles to UCSB, once arriving, we watched the ceremony, I took pictures for my family, and then we left for lunch.

For lunch we went to another brewery, this place was called Hollister Brewing Company. My thoughts on this brewery are not so good. The food was just very unsatisfactory. I got a fried chicken sandwich and my chicken was just absolutely dry. I took one bite and didn’t eat the rest. The rest of the food was pretty bland as well too. The one highlight was that their appetizers are really good and I was able to just drink tea. My family thought I was being boujee, but I needed something other than alcohol since I was only on maybe an hours worth of sleep. For full details on this Brewery you can check my review here.

We were going to stay in Santa Barbara a little longer to have dinner, but due to us all being extremely drained and sleepless, we decided to drive back home. Once my sister and I got back home I took a nice long shower and postmates Thai Food and after devouring some Pat-se-ew and Tom Yum soup and i completely KO’d the rest of the night.
